CVD DIAMOND TOOLS

CVD Diamond Tools, Blanks, and Precision Machining Tools

What Materials Are Suitable for Machining with CVD Diamond Tools?

CVD diamond tools include tool blanks, diamond drills, turning tools, milling cutters, multi-edge milling cutters, parting tools, chamfering tools, and tapping tools. These industrial diamond tools offer high hardness, wear resistance, and thermal conductivity, making them suitable for precision machining of nonferrous metals, ceramics, composite materials, optical components, semiconductor substrates, and hard brittle materials.

Common machining operations include drilling, turning, milling, singulation, and chamfering of silicon, silicon carbide, aluminum nitride, sapphire, glass, advanced ceramics, aluminum-copper alloys, and composite materials. When machining ferrous materials, cutting temperature, chemical wear mechanisms, and the suitability of the diamond cutting material must be confirmed in advance.

TOOL SELECTION

How Should Diamond Tool Blanks, Drills, and Cutting Tools Be Selected?

Diamond Tool Blanks

Available with dimensions, thickness, and crystal orientation cut according to drawings, with options for single-crystal or polycrystalline materials, single- or double-sided polishing, and chamfering. These blanks can be supplied as precision diamond tools according to specific machining requirements.

Diamond Drills

Suitable for precision drilling of hard brittle materials. Selection requires confirmation of hole diameter, hole depth, substrate thickness, allowable chipping, and cooling method.

Diamond Turning Tools and Milling Cutters

Cutting materials are configured according to workpiece material, machining profile, tool geometry, surface roughness, and equipment conditions.

Parting, Chamfering, and Tapping Tools

Kerf width, hole-entry geometry, thread specifications, cutting-edge angle, and machining tolerances should be confirmed.

Single-crystal CVD diamond is suitable for sharp cutting edges and more stringent surface requirements, while polycrystalline materials can be evaluated according to machining method, dimensions, and cost requirements. Actual tool life is affected by workpiece material, spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, cooling, and machine-tool rigidity.

CUSTOM PROCESSING

Custom Diamond Tool Processing

As a diamond tool manufacturer, Alishan Diamond provides custom processing for CVD diamond tool blanks and finished cutting tools. The process includes CVD diamond blank growth, laser cutting and edge forming, grinding and polishing, surface metallization, mounting or brazing, and quality inspection. Customers can provide existing tool samples or engineering drawings to discuss edge geometry, crystal orientation, dimensional tolerances, and tool-holder interfaces.

TECHNICAL EVALUATION

What Machining Conditions Are Required for a Quotation?

As a diamond tool supplier and diamond tool company, Alishan Diamond can evaluate tool specifications based on the application and machining conditions. Please provide workpiece material and hardness, machining method, hole diameter or tool dimensions, edge geometry and angles, spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, cooling method, target tolerances, surface roughness, tool-holder or insert interface, trial quantity, and estimated usage.
